What is Metformin ? 

Metaformin is active drug consumed along with your diet to reduce the high blood sugar level in patients that are diagnosed with Type 2 diabaties. Because of type 2 diabetes, Insulin which is produced in the patient's pancreas cannot get sugar incredients into the cells of the body where it could work properly. 

It comes in the form of tablet that you will take by mouth. Metformin is available in two different form, immediate release tablets and extended release tablets. The immediate release tablets start working as soon as you take them whereas, the Extended release tablets work after a certain period of time after you consume them.

Uses

Metaformin is used to reduce the lower the blood sugar level in patients suffering from type 2 diabetes. 

Dosage

Metaformin is prescribed to be taken after your Dinner as it reduces the chances of getting possible side effects. Refer the Steps below on How to take your dose. 

1. Remove the Metaformin tablet from the packaging. 
2. Swallow the whole tablet with glass of water. 
3. Seat upright for Minimum 5 minutes. 

NOTE : Dont chew the Metaformin tablets.

1. Pour in 5ml or prescribed dose of Spoonful Metaformin oral solution carefully using the measuring device that comes with metformin oral solution. 
2. Seat straight for minimum 5 minutes. 

Side Effects

The commonly reported side effects includes, 

• Allergy like rashes, itching, red swollen skin, blistered or peeling skin. All this could occur with or with out fever. 
• Sharp Belly pain. 
• Gas. 
• Nausea.  
• Diarrhea. 
• Fatigue. 
• Headache.

Consumption Age 

Metformin tablets can be used in children from 10 years of age and adolescents. 

Who should not take Metformin ? 

• Pregnant Women.
